Assassin's Creed: RevelationIf the fans feel like Assassin's Creed: Revelations is the elaboration of previous game, probably because it is. With the success of Assassin's Creed II, the concept of a master assassin running around in Europe have been makes by developer Ubisoft to great effect.
To its credit, Ubisoft has tried to incorporate new elements each sequel and every game brings new capabilities for the lead character Ezio. The previous game, Brotherhood, introduced a recruitment system and more weapons to play with.
Some are not a fan of the recruitment option and of course, someone on the development team must have felt the same way, because Revelation does not have that function.
Instead, a number of real-time strategy element where players troops and places obstacles to a location to strengthen.
But while it adds a great opportunity to play, have an army just felt impersonal as I am a person who just wants to strike enemies close and personal.
In the end, it seems that Ubisoft has run out of ideas on how to improve a single-player action game only the elements is beautiful, and not increase the original premise. For example, the skills that the players are accustomed are still there.
In a blend of historical fantasy and some weird science fiction elements, Desmond, the hero, is trapped in the Animus, the machine that has allowed him to explore the genetic memories of his ancestors, Ezio and Altair. Shuttling between the two ancestors, players must completely restore the genetic memories to free Desmond.
As the new game elements seem more complementary, the focus continued to sneak around the city, killing the shadows and trying to uncover the conspiracy and this plays out just like the previous game. A new weapons and the ability to make bombs are nice additions to the core game, but after having skipped countless rooftops and cutting up renegade soldiers for numerous time, makes the game a little tired.
Fans of the series will probably continue to embrace the game as the action is more intense in this issue, although some of the story elements do not really do much sense. This is the last game of the current premise and eventual sequel will introduce a new story, Assassin's Creed: Revelation serves as a nice wrap even as it leaves players wanting more.Platform: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
